Youth Teams U12 - U18

"Learn to Train ⚽️ Learn to Compete"

Porters Lake Soccer's youth teams focus on player development, teamwork and having fun, while competing against other Soccer Clubs in the Halifax area.  As as member of Soccer NS, we follow Soccer Canada's Grassroots Standards to ensure the best possible learning and playing environment for our players and teams!

Our U12 - U18 teams compete in the Community Stream (A/B/C levels) of the NS Soccer League based in HRM.  Training begins in May; League games start June 1 and programs continue to mid-late August.

Players on youth teams U12+ are expected to be committed to the team and attend practices and games regularly.  Some rosters have minimum/ maximum numbers and may fill up quickly so please register early to secure your spot.  Additional players will be added to a waitlist in hopes of fielding a second team.

Game Days are set by the League and are subject to change. League kick-off is June 1; teams play approximately 14 games per season.

Practice Days and times will be determined once the league's game day schedules are released.  Youth teams should plan for 1 to 2 games and one practice a week, although there may be more or less sessions in any given week. Players will also have the opportunity to attend extra skills sessions, goalkeeping and shooting clinics as organized by our Club. Practices usually begin in local school gyms in April/May and move to turf or grass fields when they are open for play.

Division/Team Balancing

For age groups where there are multiple teams at the same playing level, teams will be balanced as much as possible.  (for example, having two U12-boys teams in the C division)

Where multiple levels are offered (A,B,C), players may choose the recreation/community option, or may attend placement sessions for those who wish to compete in a more dedicated and challenging soccer environment.

An additional fee may apply to competitive teams based on increased costs of field time and officials.

☝️ The Board of Directors will make the final determination on which teams/levels are offered during any given season.  We are guided by the goals of keeping as many players active as possible, and providing challenging and competitive programs that give our players the opportunity for success!  We are also volunteer based, and need your support to offer these great programs for over 350 local youth!  Volunteer today!
